Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter, everyone!  What a blessed season is finally upon us.  I thought I would share a few pictures from our Easter Sunday in place of my usual Weekend In Feminine Dress.  These are mostly taken at my family's house yesterday afternoon...we were all a little tired.  We went to Mass in the morning, my husband's family's house and then mine.  So it was a long day, but definitely a pleasant one.

St. Joseph and Divine Providence

The Holy Family and the Little Bird, Murillo

St. Joseph is an excellent example for so many virtues.  I admire in particular his unwavering trust in Divine Providence.  He did not insist on always understanding but instead showed a noble respect for God's plans.

St. Joseph is unlike those who only desire to understand facts.  These people are exhaustingly literal, historical and rational.  They always want human regulations.  They believe man rules the earth.  This temptation may be manifest in the nationalist or naturalist.  They fail to look higher.  St. Thomas persisted for quite some time to see it, touch it, understand it.  Earthly dreams were his goal and are for many of us.  We do not realize the true benefit of supernatural laws.

There are some who go even further, those who have cut themselves off from grace.  These people are atheists and subject themselves to a nightmare of bad scenarios where temporal security is the only motivation.  They may advocate radical control or radical independence.  Morality is subject to popular thought and God is forsaken along with the incredible comfort of Divine Providence.  This atheistic life is truly the worst enemy of grace.

But those who can smile at Divine Providence like St. Joseph should not worry!  They live in grace.  They can relax in the palm of God's hand.  The gift of perseverance is a particular gift of God which allows us to continue in the state of grace until death.  Surely the confident soul should rely on this grace!

Essential Oils and the Occult

I just read this article about essential oils and the occult and wonder if anyone has more information?  I have used essential oils and have friends who sell the Young Living brand.  I have even visited a naturopath doctor and now wonder if there could be some odd influence there?  I do realize there must be a balance which rejects both the dangers of the "free spirit" and puritan like superstition.  The connection with witchcraft is disturbing and yet not surprising considering the rise of the demonic on so many levels in popular culture.  Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

EDIT: I want to clarify that essential oils are harmless in themselves.  It is the report that Young Living is offering "spiritual" blends that are reportedly being blessed by witches that prompted me to share the dangers.  Thanks for all the input!

I finally have some beautiful new clothes, thanks in part to my dear friend Valleri who I met through The Catholic Lady Blog!!  I am so excited to post some new outfits in the coming weeks!  This skirt is one she sent and fits me perfectly.  I did not have much time to get ready Sunday for Mass (1 less hour!!) so having a simple, easy to match skirt was a tremendous help!

Note: I want to apologize to those of you who have sent me pictures to post; my computer is having trouble with downloads.

A Weekend In Feminine Dress

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope your Lent is going well, penances and all.  I honestly have not been doing a great job this year with sacrificing.  I am working harder on cultivating good habits in hopes that they will filter out the bad...

Who else is rejoicing for Easter and Spring?  We are so excited to get outside and spend our days in the sun.  In our free time my husband and I are getting the house ready to sell.  Although keeping the house tidied up with little children is like shoveling during a blizzard!

This weekend was cold but sunny so instead of wearing my coat to Mass I decided on a smaller jacket.  I was comfortable in the cooler weather; I really think layers help with warmth.  It is hard to manage coats in Church while also carrying my bag and (often) children.  For some reason the lighting is bit odd in my pictures, sorry.  Also, if you have sent me photos and I have not published them, I apologize.  It is most likely because of trouble with my computer.
