A Weekend in Feminine Dress

Welcome to A Weekend In Feminine Dress on The Catholic Lady Blog.  This is when I post pictures of myself or a volunteer wearing a modest, elegant outfit to encourage women in the apostolate of feminine dress.  If you would like to share your photos for publication here, please send them to me at: thecatholiclady@gmail.com.  Please note: I reserve the right to reject those pictures that do not reflect the ideals of modesty and elegance this blog promotes.  Thank you!

A Good Article: American Heroine Claire Boothe

"Ann Clare Boothe was born on April 10, 1903, in a dismal apartment house on Riverside Drive in New York City….Clare herself once succinctly pictured her unpropitious prospects as a baby. Shortly after her conversion to Catholicism, she was attacked by an ardent disciple of Mrs. Sanger for the Catholic stand against birth control. She wound up her tirade by saying, “I cannot understand anyone as enlightened as yourself subscribing to that doctrine...”

In a day when modesty and elegance are so rare, I am blessed to have the readers of my blog to hold me to- in today's terms- high standards!  I honestly always think about you when I choose my Sunday outfit, when I'm shopping and when I think about what to wear.  You are my encouragement.  You are part of this apostolate for sure.  Thank you so much for being a blessing to me!!

Here is what I wore yesterday.  The weather is so beautiful and warm.  Spring has definitely sprung!  On the agenda for this week: gardening, fishing and lots of playing outside.  Life is good in the Springtime I guess.  By the way, I absolutely LOVE these shoes.  There's a tip I guess: you never feel like a real lady unless wearing elegant shoes.  ;)

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  We kept busy.  Saturday I spent cleaning and organizing the house (although you probably couldn't tell from walking in...) and Sunday we went to my family's house to celebrate my sister's birthday.  Our children love going over there which I think is so cute!!  My Mom spoils them...  It is always exhausting though when we go over there after Mass which makes a very full day.  Here's what I wore.

It was colder again yesterday and we even got some snow in the morning!  So we all wore coats to Church.  By late afternoon the snow was gone and the sun shining, so that's when we went outside to take pictures!   I had my hair cut a few weeks ago and like it so much better.  Last year I had layers put in and really did not like them on me at all.  I'm hoping it will grow a little longer before summer...

I made this skirt and like it very much.  It has two tier type pieces on the top which you can't really see in the photos.  The fabric is a cotton/linen blend and although I don't love the brown color, I think it will be a versatile skirt.  I had to include the photo of Becky in her adorable floral dress too!  It's Ralph Lauren; I paid a few dollars for it second-hand with a $25 Marshalls price tag (which means it was probably twice that new)!!
